These concerts are the North Carolina Symphony debut for Tahrah Cohen.

Tahrah Cohen is a founding member of both Antony and the Johnsons and The Machine. She has toured The United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia with each band since 1988.

In 2000, Cohen had the honor of performing with Lou Reed at PS 122 in NYC, for his first performance of "Candy Says" with Antony and The Johnsons. She also performed in his backing band at Hal Willner’s Halloween Show: Never Bet the Devil Your Head (Royce Hall, Los Angeles, 2002).

In 2002, Cohen was part of Jazz is Dead’s summer tour featuring Jeff Pevar & T. Laviz with a special performance at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre. A 2004 performance with Antony and The Johnsons for the I Am A Bird Now record release found Cohen performing with Lou Reed, Boy George, and Rufus Wainwright.

In 2005, she performed at Antony and the Johnsons’s sold-out show at Carnegie Hall after winning the Mercury Prize for I Am a Bird Now.
