Kevin Fitzgerald
conductor

Kevin Fitzgerald previously appeared with the North Carolina Symphony and Cirque de la Symphonie at UNC Health Summerfest in 2024.

American conductor Kevin Fitzgerald won the Special Prize for Best Performance of a Contemporary Piece at The Mahler Competition in 2023—the first conductor to win this award. He has been Associate Conductor of the Jacksonville Symphony since the 2022/23 season, conducting over fifty performances. He was a Tanglewood Music Center Conducting Fellow in 2021, and he was awarded Career Assistance Grants by the Solti Foundation U.S. for four consecutive years beginning from 2019.

Fitzgerald will debut in the 2024/25 season with the Oregon Mozart Players as a finalist candidate to be their Artistic Director. He will also return to the Cape Symphony as a Music Director candidate. He will assist Susanna Mälkki at the New York Philharmonic for the U.S. premiere of Luca Francesconi’s Duende

Fitzgerald founded the ÆPEX Contemporary Performance ensemble in 2015 to perform and promote contemporary classical composers from historically under-represented back-grounds. He also co-produced and conducted Requiem for Orlando, with over 400 volunteers performing Mozart’s Requiem in a musical tribute to the victims of the 2016 Pulse Nightclub massacre.
