Led by Catalina García and Santiago Prieto, both born and raised in Colombia, Monsieur Periné blends genres such as jazz, swing, and pop with the Latin American sounds of salsa, cumbia, and bolero. In 12 years, they have released four albums: Hecho a mano (2012), Caja de Música (2015), Encanto Tropical (2018), and Bolero Apocalíptico (2023).
Accompanied by a large family of talented musicians (Darwin Paez on drums, Roxana Valdes Taffur on percussion, Eva Peroni on bass, Abstin Caviedes and Jairo A. Barrera on winds), they have played at Rock in Rio, Lollapalooza Chicago and Chile, Austin City Limits, Bonnaroo, Fusion Festival Berlin, Estéreo Picnic Bogotá, Festival at Pohoda, Festival Vive Latino, Cosquin Rock, Tecate pal Norte, and stages all over the world such as Mexico, Spain, the US, Peru, and many more.
Monsieur Periné received their first Latin Grammy in 2015 for Best New Artist and have received Latin Grammy nominations for Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Song, and most recently Best Alternative Music Album for Bolero Apocalíptico. They also have earned Grammy nominations for Best Latin Rock, Urban, or Alternative Album.
