Creative Director at Ex Machina, Steve Blanchet has been working in the arts and cultural sector for over 25 years. As of 1996, he successively served as the artistic director and creative director at the Cossette Agency. A number of his media campaigns received both national and international recognition.

Blanchet began his collaboration with Ex Machina in 2005 during the creation of the large-scale outdoor video projection, The Image Mill. He was the co-creator of the exhibit and the designer of its images until its final edition in 2013. He continued with Robert Lepage’s one-man-show 887 and The Library at Night, an immersive exhibition exploring virtual reality. As creative director and co-designer, these past years Blanchet has worked on an array of productions such as Shakespeare’s Coriolanus at the Stratford Festival, Frame by Frame with The National Ballet of Canada, Mozart’s opera The Magic Flute at the Québec Opera Festival, Courville, The Riopelle Project, the show SLAM!, as well as the museum exhibition Lutte. His career path is punctuated with several collaborations on short films, movies, and publications.
