“What does a Shakespeare company need to be now?” In a world ever-evolving, where the past intertwines with the present, we find ourselves at a crossroads of storytelling and exploration.
At Marin Shakespeare Company, we believe the answer lies in embracing the full spectrum of human experience, from the echoes of centuries past to the vibrant tapestry of voices that define our world today. Our stages are not relics of the past; they are living, breathing entities committed to the transformative power of Shakespeare, newly understood by diverse voices and narratives that enrich our shared human experience.
This season, we extend the conversation with deeply considered adaptations that push the boundaries of tradition and innovation. Domenique Lozano’s adaptation of Much Ado About Nothing and Michael Gene Sullivan’s adaptation of The Comedy of Errors offer fresh perspectives, spark new insights, and give us brand new ways to laugh together.
But that’s not all. We are thrilled to introduce our first indoor summer production, an echo of Macbeth titled The Untime, conceived by Nick Musleh and Jon Tracy. This endeavor marks a new chapter in our artistic journey and a deep dive into Shakespeare-adjacent stories. Our partner, Actors’ Reading Collective, also offers four Play Readings of Shakespeare-adjacent plays at Marin Shakespeare this summer — adding to the Kaleidoscope of viewpoints you’ll be able to enjoy.
As we begin our 2024 Summer Season, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for joining us on this journey. Your presence is a beacon of hope for the future of theatre and humanity.
Welcome to Marin Shakespeare Company, where the past, present, and future converge in a celebration of the human spirit.
With boundless enthusiasm,
Jon Tracy,
Artistic Director
