Director’s Notes
We exist in a place where music moves like breath, where dance carries story, and where Shakespeare’s timeless poetry hums with laughter, mischief, and mystery. A Midsummer Night’s Dream invites us into a world where transformation is not only possible—it is inevitable. Beneath the boughs of enchanted trees and in the glow of moonlit wonder, the rules of our waking life dissolve. In their place, we find play, desire, absurdity, and the wild, unpredictable magic of love.
May we see ourselves in this strange and beautiful tale—flawed, resilient, curious—and engage with its reflections. May its themes of illusion and insight, power and forgiveness, awaken in us a yearning to connect more deeply with each other. Perhaps, if only for a few hours, we can become children again: running through the forest, laughing without reason, dreaming together beneath the stars.
To give our attention—to a story, to a stranger, to the moment—is a powerful act. It is an offering. A gesture of love. And where there is love, imagination breathes freely. When we imagine, we create. This is the sacred exchange between artist and audience. This is the necessity of theater. Because through imagination, we are transformed. And this, above all, is why
A Midsummer Night’s Dream continues to bloom—today, tomorrow, and long after we’re gone.
Let us plant seeds of dialogue. Let us water them with joy, with care, and with courage. And may something new, something necessary, take root—right here, with all of us, in this shared dream.
