A glorious trio of Romantic favorites! We welcome Eric Jacobsen to make his debut appearance with the Buffalo Philharmonic with this beautiful program, and he is joined by superb pianist Adam Golka. The program opens with a collection of Brahms' charming Hungarian Dances. Hungarian culture was a passion of Brahms, and he learned this colorful and vibrant music from his beloved Hungarian friend, violinist Joseph Joachim. Schumann was a poet of the age—a great composer and a great writer, and one of the outstanding voices of early Romanticism. We make the voyage across the North Sea for our final Romantic work, Edvard Grieg's Piano Concerto, rounding out a concert of audience favorites.
