There’s nothing like it when the lights dim and the overture begins. It is shared by the audience, the orchestra, and everyone excitedly waiting in the wings. On behalf of the company of White Christmas, thank you for making theatre with us this holiday season!
The holidays hold warm memories, and White Christmas is the star at the top of the tree for many of us. Bringing this story back to the Riverside stage has been a delight and a joyous celebration of musical theatre, one of the great American art forms. We hope you see our joy through Bob, Betty, Phil, and Judy as they put on their show in a little New England barn.
Irving Berlin’s timeless music wraps us in a nostalgic cellophane that helps us see the world around us with kinder eyes. Through all of the laughs and lyrics, there is an undercurrent of compassion we can take with us as we return home. Perhaps this holiday season, we can lend a helping hand, thank those who help us, and share goodwill with friends old and new. If we can hold onto this spirit from our trip to the Columbia Inn, we can do our best to assure our days will “be merry and bright.”
Happy Holidays!
Daniel Pippert
A special thank you to all our Riverside Volunteers who gave their time and talents in the scenic department, the costume department, as ushers and greeters, and with community outreach and promotions to make White Christmas a success!
