Harry Chapin’s Greatest Stories LIVE featuring The Chapin Family

Experience iconic performances and timeless hits from the late, great Harry Chapin, featuring the ones who knew him best: Harry’s brothers Tom & Steve, Harry’s daughter Jen (and her trio), nieces Abigail and Lily (The Chapin Sisters), and members of Harry’s Band: audience favorites Big John Wallace and Howard Fields.

In the long rich history of Family Groups in American Roots Music, The Chapin Family has a special place. When these singers, songwriters, and extraordinary live performers come together, magic happens. Tom, Steve, Jen, Abigail, and Lily Chapin are all award-winning musical artists with active careers and multiple recordings, who just happen to be related, and who love making music together.

HARRY CHAPIN (1942 -1981) was one of our most passionate, political, prolific, and inspiring songwriters. Harry’s voice was silenced over 40 years ago, and his fans yearn to hear these songs again. Tonight, two generations of the musical Chapin Family will gather to bring the songs of Harry Chapin to life.

Harry Chapin is remembered as a great humanitarian, public advocate, and educator, fund-raiser, musician, writer, and filmmaker. Because of his extraordinary contributions, Harry Chapin was posthumously awarded the Special Congressional Gold Medal in 1987.

To honor Harry’s commitment to fighting hunger, the State Theatre is conducting a Food Drive in connection with this concert. We thank the audience for bringing non-perishable food items, which will be donated to REPLENISH, a local food bank. REPLENISH distributed 5.2 million pounds of food to those in need in 2023 alone.
