RISE
A work in four movements that progresses through the life journey of an Indian woman; it encompasses the joyous aspirations of her youth, the tensions created by the expectations of society and the limitations of her circumstances, the strength she needs to recover from physical and emotional toll, and ultimately the hope that reemerges from channeling love, community, and compassion in a new direction.
RISE is a love letter to the grandmothers, aunties, and mothers who, with unwavering determination and limitless generosity, continue to show the way and to empower each new generation of women to nourish and perpetuate the remarkable bond of sisterhood that unites us all.

An Indian American Dance Experience
Founded in 2008, Sa’s mission is to bring awareness of the Indian-American identity to a wider and more diverse audience.
“Sa” is both the first and last note of the octave in Indian classical music. The Sa Dance Company weaves together Indian and Western dance forms to express the essence of our Indian-American identity. Dances and stories that have been passed down over generations are infused with our dancers’ current experiences.
Sa’s style is defined by grace and expression coupled with layered choreography and intricate formations. Performances offer an accessible window into a world not often presented to Western audiences and a mirror for a modern Indian-American community.
Past performance venues include Lincoln Center, The Ailey Citigroup Theater, Peabody Essex Museum, Battery Downtown Dance Festival and in 2022 at The White House for the President of the United States.
Support
Sa is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. As we continue to explore new avenues for our artistry, your tax-deductible donations can make an important difference in Sa’s success.
Thank you for your support.
