Gary Scott
vocalist

Gary Scott made his debut with the North Carolina Symphony in 2024, performing the songs of the '70s at UNC Health Summerfest

Gary Scott is a singer/songwriter from Nashville, TN. His family moved to Music City in 1967, just after he was born. A fourth-generation working musician, Scott's music career began at the age of 15 when his garage band played a New Year's Eve Party in Mt. Juliet, TN. The band split $15 three ways. He has consistently worked as a singer, drummer, bassist, or guitarist since then.

Scott is a graduate of DuPont High School in Hermitage, TN, and has a bachelor’s degree in English and philosophy from Murray State University in Murray, KY. After college, he worked for 12 years as a public broadcaster. He was an award-winning reporter, producer, editor and host at National Public Radio member stations in Kentucky and Ohio, doing numerous national news features for NPR.

After that, Scott toured full time for over a decade, with his wife Dalia Garcia, as the acoustic duo Garcia and Scott. Their travels took them all over the U.S. and to Europe. He now works full time at Gruhn Guitars in Nashville. He is wrapping up a solo recording project called The Weary and the Wise, which is due to be released in late summer.
