Jonathan Smoots made Milwaukee his home in 1987 and has since worked with nearly all the theatre companies in the city. Favorite productions for Next Act include Strange Snow, Sea Marks, Faith Healer, Equivocation, and directing The Boys Next Door; for Milwaukee Chamber Theatre: Man and Superman, The Lady’s Not For Burning, Timon of Athens, Death and the Maiden, and directing Present Laughter and Smash; at Milwaukee Rep: A Doll’s House, The Seafarer, The Beauty Queen of Leenane, and at least 15 years of A Christmas Carol, two as Scrooge. Favorite roles at American Players Theatre where he spent 29 seasons and is now a Core Company Emeritus include Mercutio, Malvolio, Bottom, Lear, and Captain Shotover. Jonathan hopes to return to APT soon in a September-November role, but in the meantime he and his wife Laura Gordon will both be acting this summer at Santa Cruz Shakespeare.
