I am pleased to welcome you to our 12th annual Dance Concert! The Dances we present now have been in rehearsal since October, and it has been exciting to watch them evolve into the dances they have become. Each portrays a choreographer's vision of movement and motion: Laura Neese explores how the human body informs our movement in the world and engages in the community; Kathy Luo plays with risk-taking, ambition, confrontation, and intrinsic strength between opponents as seen in the game of chess; student choreographer, Anna Benton, envisions an authentic atmosphere of unrest and discomfort from a firsthand perspective of anxiety; Artistic Director Theresa Bautista explores the spaces between layers; and guest artists Russell Lepley and Fill Pellachi, who co-founded Flux + Flow Dance and Movement Center, explore the queer experience.

Each year, we feel honored to celebrate this moment. I am so proud of the UK students and their work, passion, and dedication they place on dance, creation, and inquiry. You, our audience, now become part of the dances as we bring these ideas to the stage. Thank you for joining us.
