The timeless classic is back this holiday season! Professional dancers share the stage with York's pre-professional regional youth ballet company, The Midstate Ballet, and perform a beautiful ballet danced to the timeless music of Tchaikovsky in The Nutcracker. The tale of The Nutcracker, written by E.T.A. Hoffman in 1816, has fascinated artists and audiences for decades.
The Nutcracker takes place in two acts and tells the story of a Christmas Eve in the 1800’s at the home of young Clara and her family, The Stahlbaum’s, during their holiday party. The mysterious magician, Drosselmyer, makes a surprise visit and presents Clara with a very unique Nutcracker doll. This begins the magical journey of Clara and her Nutcracker prince with an intense battle between toy soldiers and mice to the Kingdom of Snow and the Land of Sweets. The traditional classical ballet delights all ages with its music, mystery and magic.
