Director's Notes

by Candace Evans, guest director

Do you remember when you were a child, and loved to pretend? Your own backyard could be a jungle, a ship at sea, or a far away planet; whatever you imagined could become true. Transforming yourself into a tiger, astronaut, or elf was as easy as saying it was so. The possibilities were endless, and with them came the joy of endless stories and adventures.

As adults we still crave those imaginings of childhood. When we dream, we can fly. When we read, we envision other lives. When coping with busy days at work, we envision wonderful vacations. And when we attend the opera, ballet, or theatre, we can once again revel in the chance to be transported. Like our childhood selves, we are eager for a time of escape, entertainment and joy.

May that yearning for childhood magic never leave you. Savor the escape of pretending, and once again, let your inner child delight in the magic of music, character and adventure.

Join your imagination with ours, and enter the forest.
